Credit cards are an extremely popular method of transferring money online. Most sports bettors prefer to make deposits using credit cards due to the speed and high level of security provided by this payment method. Furthermore, the safety measures are constantly being enhanced. For instance, the introduction of "Verified by VISA" or "MasterCard SecureCode" ensures that the user of the credit card is indeed the cardholder by requiring a password. These measures aim to guarantee the authenticity of the transaction.

The top bookmakers compared thoroughly.

All the bookmakers tested in the sports betting review offer the option to top up the betting account using "plastic money" as part of their payment methods. Visa and Mastercard are particularly popular and accepted by all the bookmakers examined. Some (such as Interwetten) also accept less common credit cards in Europe, including Diners Club.

Credit Card Deposit Provider Overview

However, the similarities in terms of credit card payments at online bookies end there. The minimum amounts with which the betting account can be topped up via credit card range from €5 (for example, at Ladbrokes) to €15 at the betting provider Betsafe. The maximum amount ranges from €1,000 at Tipico to a whopping €120,000 at Betvictor.

At some bookmakers, it is possible to agree on the maximum deposit amount, such as at Bet3000.

Out of 15 bookmakers, 6 always charge fees for credit card deposits.

Naturally, sports bettors are particularly interested in whether fees are charged for deposits made with a credit card. This matter is handled differently by the various betting providers we have examined. Out of the 15 bookmakers we reviewed, eight completely waive fees for credit card deposits. In the case of six others, a contribution is always demanded from the bettor.

There are no additional charges for topping up your betting account with a credit card on Bet365. You won't incur any fees on Mybet, Sportingbet, Betvictor, and Tipico either. Ladbrokes and Bet300 also allow credit card deposits without any extra costs.

It becomes more expensive when it comes to Interwetten, Bwin, and Bet-at-Home. All three Austrian bookmakers require a two percent fee on the deposit amount. For example, if 100 euros are deposited, 102 euros will be charged to the credit card. Higher fees are incurred with Betsafe and Betsson. The duo imposes a fee of 2.5 percent on deposits.

In general, it can be concluded that there are fewer bookmakers in total that charge a fee for deposits made with Visa, Mastercard, and similar credit cards than those that incur expenses. When it comes to security, they are all at a top level, and there are also significant differences in terms of minimum deposit and maximum amount.
